Foremost, I would like to convey my heartfelt appreciation to The Floating Thoughts Team and it’s thousands of followers for the immense love and support they have showered on me.

In the previous part of my journey, I gave you a glimpse of where I was to where I came to be in my life. Now, I would like to dig deeper into my personal life and how I came about to realize my true calling. Let’s dive deeper into the ocean of imagination mixed with reality to understand the tipping point.

As a military brat, I was always intended to follow the footsteps of my father who is still serving the great nation of India in its army. The motto of the recruiting body of the Indian Army, ‘Do you have it in you?’, was imprinted in my mind. I so wanted to wear the olive-green uniform but then life happened. I hit the phase of life were goals and career became second priority in comparison to the love life. I was young and stupid but in my stupidity I still found some life long lessons. I guess I wanted something but my life had something else stored in for me.

My life threw a curve ball as encounter a nasty breakup that messed up my plans and goals. Still, the hope of reviving myself by serving in the Army kept me going. I went for numerous Service Selection Board interviews which is a must for every officer in the Indian Armed Forces yet I faced rejections after rejection. This was the time when my father got posted to the capital city of India, New Delhi. With all the charm and glory that comes with a big city, I came face to face with myself as the challenge of life began to haunt me.

For the next year, I didn’t really do much except trying to make friends and at the same time explore the depth of my inner self. As time passed by I began to feel alone in the company of friends as unaware of my own mental health I was slipping into depression. Everything was being blown into a never-ending spiral. I went on to pursue MSc but the ghost of the past came along to give me company. Broken and lost, I began to keep to myself. I somehow managed to get the degree along-with a corporate job. I further away from myself than I ever could comprehend. I didn’t want to spend my life in a 6 by 6 cubicle hating myself and the world.

It was then that I went to the mountains as a way to escape the city life and my reality. The mountain I stepped into the mountains I felt alive for the first time in years. By the time that trip ended I had already decided to quit this job and find myself a job in the tourism industry.

So I went ahead and followed by instincts and got a job of my desires. Thus, I quit a well paying corporate job and spent the next 6 months in the mountains.

I felt like I was born again but this time the purpose was to walk the path of my destiny  and live my life rather than just trying to survive it. I was physically and spiritually uplifted as those 6 months in the caves of the Himalayan range spoke to be in the tone of the universe. I came back to meet my friends from the cities around India and soon couple of them suggested me to go for a scuba dive.

Soon, I found myself at a beach mesmerized by the colossal beauty of the ocean. It was love at first sight. I fell in love again only this time I knew it was my happily ever-after. Thus, finally tipping me over to the other side of life where happiness awaited me.
