There are times when one wonder why are they wandering aimlessly amidst the crowd that is so estrange that they feel lonely even among friends. That’s how I felt when I was living the big city life after what was an mediocrity run with following others like sheep in the race we call life. What I did was nothing special but some simple things straight out of the clichéd life of an Indian kid i.e Engineering followed by a MBA. It’s not that I didn’t try my hands on a corporate job but during my stay at one of these high paying jobs I went onto visit a diving site.

I don’t believe in love at first sight yet the moment I laid my eyes on the vast blue liquid body that consumes not just 70% of the world but also our own existence that I was hooked. I was hooked to the point that there was no turning back as I decided that ocean is where I belong. Things got a little rough at home as my parents were a little worried but in the end they understood that they have to let me fly out of their nest to be able to create one for myself.

So I packed my bags and moved to Kavaratti, Lakshadweep Islands situated in the Arabian Sea, India. The capital city of the Lakshadweep Island was so far away from the big cities that I finally felt like I was able to breathe.

I enrolled in the Open Water Diving course there and went through the mandatory confined water dive before I could even step out in the open ocean to see the magic that comes with diving. Like all dive training this too involved three components: theory, practice and application. So there I was with dreams in my eyes and open water in front.

At last, it felt like home.
